Implementation

Objective: To provide access to safe drinking water in Anganwadi Centers and Primary Schools, addressing water contamination issues.
Installation: RO (Reverse Osmosis) treatment machines installed in 100 Anganwadi Centers and 100 Primary Schools.

Objectives

The Swachh Jal Dhara project aimed to ensure access to clean drinking water and promote hygiene practices among children in the Purnea District of Bihar. The project sought to reduce water-borne diseases and improve overall health and well-being, particularly focusing on young children in Anganwadi Centers and Primary Schools.

Activities and Achievements

Infrastructure Development: Installation of water purification system and construction of water storage facilities in various schools and Anganwadi Centers.
Hygiene Education: Conducted workshops and training sessions on the importance of clean water and personal hygiene for both children and educators.
Community Involvement: Engaged local communities in maintaining water resources and promoting hygienic practices.

Support and Interventions

Access to Safe Drinking Water:
- The project significantly improved the availability of clean drinking water for school children, reducing health risks associated with contaminated water.
- Children previously relied on unsafe water sources or use to carry heavy water bottles from home, which was detrimental to their health.
Health and Hygiene Awareness:
- Alongside the installation of RO machines, awareness programs were conducted to educate children and communities about water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices.
Community Impact:
- The project has positively impacted the health and well-being of over 1,15,000 children, ensuring they have access to safe drinking water during school hours.
